MI HISTORIA
Hi, my name is Carlos Facundo Posadas Beard. Beard is my maternal grandfather's last name. My grandfather was born in the USA in the nineteenth century. I'm not sure of the exact date of his birth but I estimate the date at somewhere between 1865 and 1870.

My grandfather came to Argentina as the chauffeur of a wealthy family that owned vineyards in Mendoza. This is where he met my grandmother who was a descendant of the indigenous natives of the region and in 1901 my mom was born.

I am the grandson/nephew of Don Carlos Posadas, author of more than forty Tangos, among them: "El Toro", "El Jaguel", "Retirao", "Cordon de Oro", "El Tamango", and many more. Moany of these Tangos were played by the orchestras of A. Troilo, C di Sarli, H. Salgan.

I started to dance Candombe when I was only three years old. Candombe is a very popular dance within the black community.

At the age of thirteen I was already proficient with the dances of the time. Tipica and Jazz were mixed with a rumba or bolero.

At 18, I was hired to be part of the Andy Russell show with a cast that included such stars as Virginia Luque, Bala, Locati, Marchesini, Nelida and Evel Lobato's Ballet. I was very proud to be a part of that ensemble.

Another exciting moment in my career was touring with a dance group that was directed by Paul Da Cruz. Paul is like a brother to me and I was thrilled to dance with another big star in the group, Jose Basso.

During the course of my career I was invited to numerous Swing festivals like the Hereng of Stockholm in Zurich, Switzerland. I performed with Count Basie and hte Gi George band. In Argentina I danced with the Delta Jazz Band, the Portena Jazz Band, Fenix Jazz Band, Dixie Landers, Georgia Jazz Band, The Siwng Timer and many other big bands.

In 1997 I participated at the Folie Tango Festival for the very first time. I ended up touring with them for seven years.

In 1998 I participated in the Encuentro con los Grandes Festival in Madrid, and the Reno Festival in Nevada. Subsequently, I participated at the Hamburg Festival in Germany.

I also participate din the C.I.T.A. (International Congress of Argentine Tango) for five consecutive years and the Miami Tango Fantasy Festival for 8 years.

In February 2007 I did a show about Afro rhythm (Plena, Bomba, Candombe and Milonga) with Mikhail Baryshnikov at the Baryshnikov Auditorium in New York.
